Before you can ever bake a masterpiece, you have to walk into a quiet kitchen, look at the counter, and gather your tools. You need to know what you have on hand. Understand the distinct purpose of each element as you prepare yourself for the labor ahead.
Every life is a unique recipe. Some ingredients are sweet, light, and full of flavor. Others are heavy, dry, or bitter on their own. But in the hands of a Master Baker, even the most volatile combinations can be mixed, leveled, and refined to create something extraordinary.
I know this firsthand because I am a third-generation baker. My legacy didn't begin with a career or a piece of paper; it began in 1972 on Freeport Blvd in Sacramento, California, where the air smelled of yeast, sweet buttercream, and hot sugar.
